Michael L. Sulkowski, Ph.D., Associate Professor in School Psychology, Clinical Associate Professor in Psychiatry
Dr. Sulkowski’s research focuses on how risk and resiliency factors influence the academic and psychosocial outcomes of youth who have been victimized or are socially disenfranchised more generally. In addition, Dr. Sulkowski is interested in exploring how contextual factors influence various outcomes of at-risk youth as well as in efforts to support student mental health, to reduce school violence, and to foster nurturing learning environments for all students.
Jina Yoon, Ph.D., Professor in Disability & Psychoeducational Studies
Dr. Yoon received her doctorate in School Psychology from Texas A&M University. Before joining the faculty at the University of Arizona, Dr. Yoon was a faculty member at Wayne State University in Detroit, MI from 1999-2015.Dr. Yoon’s research focuses on emotional and social development of children and adolescents and on school environment as an important developmental context. Her current research topics include (1) the role of teachers in peer victimization, (2) positive school climate and student-teacher relationships, and (3) students’ relationship qualities and academic engagement. She has authored a number of peer reviewed articles and book chapters in these areas.
Joe Galaskiewicz, Ph.D., Professor in School of Sociology
Professor Galaskiewicz contributes to theory and research on social networks, nonprofit organizations, and urban inequality. Currently he does research families and service providers in the Phoenix metro area. Professor Galaskiewicz received NSF funding almost continuously for the last 37 years and has served on various NSF panels. He received the 2014 Award for Distinguished Achievement and Leadership in Nonprofit and Voluntary Action Research awarded by the Association for Research on Nonprofit Organizations and Voluntary Action (ARNOVA). This past year he was the Co-winner of the Graduate College Teaching and Mentoring Award (University of Arizona. He has published three research monographs and one edited volume and lists 56 articles published in refereed journals or edited volumes.
